Developers of a 120,000 ft2 cold-storage building plan to begin construction on Portland, Maine’s waterfront this fall.

The $40 million facility is expected to accommodate up to 20,000 pallets of refrigerated goods, according to a report. Frozen and refrigerated shipments are currently taken to Boston for storage and then brought back to Maine for local distribution. The facility will be located on state-owned land next to the International Marine Terminal on the Fore River.
