A cold-storage facility in Colton, Calif., became the first of its kind in Lineage Logistics’ network to generate 100 percent of its energy consumption on-site.

Lineage installed a 3.3-MW solar array and 460 kW of linear generators at its Colton Agua Mansa facility in California’s Inland Empire. The array and generators are expected to produce all of the facility’s energy consumption on a net basis. Lineage partnered with PowerFlex, a provider of renewable energy infrastructure, to install the rooftop solar array. The facility has 8,426 individual solar panels that will generate an estimated 5.4 million kWh of clean energy annually.

The installation comes in tandem with Lineage Logistics’ pledge to becoming net-zero carbon by 2040 as a signatory of The Climate Pledge.
