SPX Cooling Technologies integrated its proprietary Aero-X coil technology into its induced-draft, closed-circuit DT fluid coolers. The coil's tube reportedly provides low air-side pressure drop and increased heat transfer surface area.
Dry operation is extended with higher switch-point temperatures than similar closed-circuit cooling towers, according to SPX Cooling Technologies. Depending on the climate, operators can gain additional incremental annual hours in dry mode with 3,000 gal/ton and $40/ton annual water savings per ton of cooling achievable in many areas. Reduced fluid pressure drop positively impacts system operating cost by lowering pump energy demand.
