United States Cold Storage (USCS) sold three public refrigerated warehouses — in Medley, Fla; Marshville, N.C.; and La Vista, Neb. — to Vertical Cold Storage.
The deal supports USCS’ strategic shift toward automation and logistics services while Vertical Cold Storage expands in the Midwest and Southeast markets. USCS recently announced the further expansion of its Tulare, Calif., facility, and the purchase of an additional 39 acres in Turlock, Calif. The company is also in the planning stages for automated expansions in its Midwest, Northeast and Texas markets.
The acquired facilities include Medley, Fla., which is 6.7 million ft3 with 29 dock doors; La Vista, Neb., which is 3 million ft3 with 29 dock doors; and Marshville, N.C., which is 2.3 million ft3 with 16 dock doors. All three have temperature zones ranging from -10 to 45°F (-23 to 7°C). Marshville has blast freezing services to -30°F (-34°C).
