With no ozone depletion potential and no global warming potential, ammonia is environmentally friendly as well as an efficient choice for refrigeration.
Its use in the industrial sector is the focus "Design of Ammonia Refrigeration Systems for Peak Performance and Efficiency," a course presented by the professional development arm of the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Planned for September 12-16, is intended to expand attendees' ammonia refrigeration knowledge of design principles and best practices. Attendees also will learn about safety precautions and the research from the Industrial Refrigeration Consortium. Session topics include design considerations for energy efficiency, load calculations and psychrometrics, and condenser, vessel and compressor sizing and selection.
